Dangote Cement sees biggest gain in 4 years as MTN share scarcity persists

Dangote Cement Plc, the biggest company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) by market capitalization, recorded its biggest gain in over four years.

The stock rose by 9.73 percent to close at N203 on Wednesday, the biggest gain recorded by the cement giant at the domestic bourse since April 1, 2015

Since the listing of MTN Nigeria on the NSE on Thursday, many investors have been unable to purchase the shares of the telecoms company.

MTNN, Dangote Cement push NSE-ASI back above 30,000 points mark

The Nigerian bourse extended its positive rally today, helped by price appreciation in MTN Nigeria (MTNN) and Dangote Cement (DANGCEM) stocks.

Industrial Goods, Banking and Oil and Gas sector also recorded positive sentiment.

The All Share Index (ASI) gained 844.74 absolute points, representing a growth of 2.88 percent to close at30,218.14 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization grew by N372.07 billion, representing an increase of 2.88 percent to close at N13.31 trillion.

MTNN emerged the top gainer while LIVESTOCK emerged as top loser.
