Why it is a miracle to live in Nigeria

Whenever and wherever the word ‘miracle’ is mentioned, the mind readily races to the time and life of Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of the Christian faith. Miracle was and still is chiefly associated with Him because He did extraordinary and welcome things that were inexplicable by natural or scientific laws. He healed the sick, cured diseases and even raised the dead in ways that could not be explained.

It may sound strange to say, especially outside the Christian faith, that miracle still happens in today’s world several years after Christ. Many, including some Christians, still doubt this. But nothing could be truer than that. And Nigeria is one country where it is proven that miracle happens on daily basis.

Unarguably, there is an unseen hand controlling the affairs of all Nigerians because theirs is a country where unusual and mysterious things happen, threatening their lives and existence yet they survive and even live long. What keeps them going must have been caused by ‘a god’ because it does not follow the usual laws of nature. That is miracle and it is hugely manifested in the lives of the people.

Situations and events that take place in Nigeria are mind-blowing, some of them are practically unimaginable. This is the only country in the world where people live in want and woe, poverty and penury, yet they survive and carry on with life as though living in lack is a natural course.

The list is endless, but it is amazing that people live in a country with challenges in virtually everything including healthcare, education, housing, security, and even right to basic things of life such as food, movement, speech, association, etc.

Nigeria has no healthcare services where citizens with life-threatening health challenges could get treatment and … Read More...

La Taverna is a Chilean, Italian and Spanish inspired restaurant located in Victoria Island on a secluded street called Balarabe Musa Crescent.

Chef Cristian Duhalde Diaz, owner of the restaurant has 23 years of cooking experience across several countries including Italy, Spain, South Africa, and Chile. The restaurant recently celebrated 6 years of operation and in Lagos that is quite a milestone, considering the turnaround of restaurants in the city.

La Taverna

The name La Taverna means cave in Spanish so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Interestingly enough, when I ask my friends what their favorite restaurant in Lagos is, 4 times out of 10 the answer is La Taverna, therefore I was curious to find out why. The first time I went to La Taverna was with my friend O’tega Ogra, who works at BUA group. Ote considers La Taverna as his favorite restaurant in town, so I was excited to check it out.

O’tega Ogra, Group Head at BUA group

The outside aesthetic of the restaurant is simple, which intrigued me to see what was on the inside. The interior has a very homely feel to it and as soon as I walked in, I understood why so many people I know say it is their favorite place to eat. I’m learning that most diners seek a wonderful, stress-free culinary experience but also want to feel comfortable and at home and that is exactly what La Taverna provides.

La Taverna has a plethora of menu options ranging from authentic Italian Pizza to all the different kinds of pasta you can imagine: Fettuccine, Alfredo, Penne.. the list goes on. There is also a good variety of meat, seafood and poultry bases dishes. I had a hard time picking what to eat but opted for … Read More...

Multiple reports reveal that 12 out of these 15 deaths recorded are as a result of health challenges. Out of the 15 deaths, two were as a result of auto crash, one was complications after childbirth and others are health challenges ranging from diabetes to high blood pressure. This scary statistic has once again ignited the conversation on the need for a proper health insurance scheme or health plans for Nigerian actors.

According to the Actor and President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, Fred Amata he says that the DGN is aware of the need to have health insurance schemes and packages for entertainers. However, he says this can only be enjoyed by members of the association.
