Governor Samuel Ortom on Monday inaugurated the 9th Benue State House of Assembly with a charge on members to serve as anchor in collaboration with the executive to deliver dividends of democracy to Benue people.
Governor Samuel Ortom this addressed the 9th Benue State Assembly which was inaugurated today where he assured the lawmakers of his administration’s support and collaboration.
Governor Ortom who assured the lawmakers of his administration’s support and collaboration, also solicited constructive engagements and dialogue among the Executive, Legislative and the Judicial arms of government for the actualization of set goals.
The Governor told the assembly members that the society has placed a moral burden on them as public office holders and it was incumbent on them to be exemplary and champion the cause of development in the state.
He urged members to eschew ethnic, sectional and political sentiments and help in the drive to end poverty, ignorance and disease with people-oriented legislation.
The Governor pledged to work with any member whom the House would choose as its Speaker and other principal officers for the common good of the state.
Governor Ortom reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to its five policy pillars of good governance, revenue security, agriculture-driven industrialisation, science and Technology as well as gender, women, youths and persons with disabilities.
He congratulated members on their victory at the general election and the subsequent inauguration and wished them a successful legislative tenure.
Following the innaugration of the 9th assembly, the members conducted a free and fare elections which saw the emergence of a member representing kyan constituency, Titus Uba as the speaker of the house.
Uba who was nominated for the speakership by member representing Tiev constituency, Dominic Ucha was to be deputalise by member representing ohimini state constituency, Christopher Adaji.
Speaking after the swearing inn by the Clark of the house, Agena Torher. The new speaker pledged his allegence and promised to ensure that the people of Benue state are well represented.
